AI sound effects, inside the Godot editor

UnlockSFX is a Godot 4 plugin that generates royalty-free, game-ready sound effects from a text prompt, right inside the editor. Variation banks, seamless loops, MP3/WAV — imported straight into res://sfx/.

Asset Store: pending Godot reviewInstallable now via GitHubGodot 4.3+MIT licensed

We've submitted UnlockSFX to the Godot Asset Store and it's currently in review. Until it's live you can install it from GitHub in under a minute — the steps are below.

What you can do

Generate in the dock

A panel docks on the right with the full workflow — prompt, duration, format, variants, looping, a live credit balance, and a Listen preview.

Right-click Quick Generate

Right-click any folder in the FileSystem dock and pick “UnlockSFX: Generate here…” to drop a sound straight into it. (Godot 4.3+)

Variation banks

Generate 2–8 variants and get an AudioStreamRandomizer .tres with no-repeats and pitch variance. Drag it onto an AudioStreamPlayer for instant variety.

Seamless loops

Generate clips with no audible start or end for ambient beds and engine hums that loop forever.

Cleared to ship

Every clip is royalty-free for commercial use with no attribution. One-click Steam AI-disclosure snippet and a provenance record included.

MP3 or WAV

Small and ship-ready, or uncompressed with no MP3 artifacts. Clips import automatically when saved inside your project.

Godot plugin FAQ

How do I install UnlockSFX in Godot?

Today you install it from GitHub: download or clone the repo, copy the addons/unlocksfx folder into your project, then enable UnlockSFX under Project → Project Settings → Plugins. A one-click install from the Godot Asset Store is on the way.

Which Godot versions are supported?

Godot 4.3 and newer is recommended. The dock works on earlier Godot 4.x; the right-click Quick Generate feature needs Godot 4.3+ and disables itself automatically on older versions.

Are the sound effects royalty-free?

Yes. Every clip you generate is cleared for commercial use with no attribution required — the only limit is that you cannot resell the raw audio files on their own. The plugin also gives you a one-click Steam AI-disclosure snippet.

Is the plugin free?

The plugin itself is free and MIT-licensed. Generating sounds uses credits from your UnlockSFX account — roughly one credit per five seconds of audio, and you get free credits to start.

What audio formats can I export?

MP3 or WAV. Sounds saved inside your project import automatically; you can also save to any folder outside the project as raw files.
